Use of recycled plastic content across all products and timelines for increasing content

Wipro is committed to re-channelize all the materials for re-use and is working towards a 100% recycling program. Wipro has vision to lessen dependence on virgin metals in the near future. Wipro has stringent program to completely close the loopholes in recycling and is working towards stoppage of the leaking of waste into informal sector. However, Wipro is sensitive towards the informal sector and examining the process to include informal sector in collection process.

Plastic: Starting March, 2009, Wipro has identified vendors through recycling partners to ship all plastic contents for re-use purpose. At present Wipro is sending 100% of its plastic content to authorized plastic recycler for re-use, out of which Wipro is using 25% of its total plastic as recycled plastic.

Commitment: Wipro has identified vendors who will outsource plastic content from Wipro e-waste recyclers for re-use purpose. Wipro is targeting to re-channelize its plastic content for re-use purpose and aim to achieve about 40% by 2nd quarter of 2012.

Glass: Wipro has phased out all CRT to LCD panels and is researching to switch to LED in new manufacturing Process. Wipro has initiated a program to replace old CRT monitor to LCD monitors. Wipro is sending all the old CRT monitors for recycling to Samtel and videocon for manufacturing.

Carton Box: Wipro has taken initiatives to reduce packaging material. The packaging material content has been reduced by 25% (in weightage) in comparison to 2008. The authorized Waste paper recycler (approved by Government of India) is collecting all carton boxes from Wipro and our customers for recycling purpose. The waste paper recycler is recycling all carton box with an efficiency of 75%.
